What is wrong with the current boundaries? Laval should definitely stays attached to the Montreal region.
This proposal is taking part of the Greater Montreal Area and moving it to Laurentides.
The correct way to handle this would be preserving the current boundaries, which correctly represent the Montreal area, and adding Laval to the area. So basically, take the current map, and paint Laval brown.
The proposed boundary is ill-informed. I’m guessing it was put forward by someone that isn’t from the area at all. I respect the work you’re doing, but the current boundary is the good one. Add Laval to Montréal, because that’s the only way to deal with this boudary issue.
The Montréal Métro (subway) goes to Laval. It’s NOT another region.
Yes, you are using the Québec governement’s administrative regions to determine MeshCore regions and it makes sense for most of the regions, but there’s an issue with that way to split the province: almost all of the administrative regions are distinct and sparsely populated on their borders. Except for the region of Montréal. Laval is its own administrative region, which may make sense for governmental services, but the fact is that the Montréal region extends (in real life) to the current boundary.
Don’t split Montréal in two!!!
Anyone from Montréal or the Greater Montréal can corroborate this.
I live in Montréal, and operate YUL-Cartierville and YUL-UpperSalaberry.
Cheers from Montréal

We should do like Toronto did. They even have 2 layers down for gta-on and gta. We cannot have a “great Montreal area” without subpart, it does not make sense. Someone sending a message from Brossard to St-Hubert would be flooded on the south shore, Montreal, Laval, North Shore. It does not make sense.
And “merging” Laval into Montréal does not make sense too.
I did the PR and I know the region, I’ve lived downtown Montreal 3 years, 5 in ville St Laurent and 20 in the North Shore.
Thinks of the future and the radio traffic congestion
You are confusing Montreal with the Great Montreal Area… take a look at what GTA did. We should do it right the first time and not patch it in a few months and edit multiple repeater having wrong region settings.
What I propose and @n30nex can maybe directly edit regions because I don’t think we can create new one in the editor:
- laur
- hlaur # hautes laurentides, think st-jerome and up
- blaur # basses laurentides, think the belt from oka to lorraine
- gma # the great montreal area
- blaur
- laval
- mtl
- rsm # rive sud of montreal, think the belt from chateauguay to varennes
- mtrg
- rsm
- mtrgs # monteregie sud, thinks st-hyacinthe
